This is an homage to my beloved, deceased zoquetero of many years, Chris Brito. I was thinking of all the fireplaces my daughter and I have built together while I was painting this, but the figure on the left would not become a woman – no matter how many times I painted it it wanted to be bigger and stronger than I am.
It was Chris! He wanted to say goodbye! Rest in Peace Chris, we loved working with you! Remember the crazy jobs we had, and what beautiful work we did – your fireplaces will be here long after you are gone, flying in the clouds, Chris… You built things that will last.
